
Maharashtra Corporation Election Result 2026 Live Updates: Counting of votes in most of the 29 Municipal Corporations of Maharashtra where elections were held have either completed or in the final stage.
As per the final result announced by the state election commission, out of the total 2,869 seats, the BJP has won 1,420 seats, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) 375, Congress 329, NCP (Ajit Pawar) 175, Shiv Sena (UBT) 160, AIMIM 125, NCP (Sharad Pawar) 40 and MNS just 13 seats. (The result of some seats have not been announced.)

03.15 PM: The BJP and Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) alliance has dislodged Shiv Sena (Udhav Balasaheb Thackeray) from power in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, if the trends at 03.15 PM are any indication.
As per the trends at 03.15 PM, the BJP is leading on 90 seats of Mumbai whereas SS (Shinde) candidates are ahead on 28 seats. Together the two parties are set to win a total of 118 of the total 227 seats of BMC.
The Sena (UBT) is struggling with 63 seats whereas its alliance partner MNS of Raj Thaceray is ahead on 06 just seats. The Congress is leading on 12 seats,NCP (Sharad Pawar) on 01 and others, including AIMIM, are leading on 09 seats, as per the trends at 03.15 PM.
Elsewhere in Maharashtra, the BJP candidates are also leading in Pune (90), Kalyan Dombivali (32), Navi Mumbai (72), Mira Bhayandar (44), Ulhasnagar (24), Vasai Virar (48), Panvel (24), Nagpur (109), Pimpri-Chinchwad (86), Nashik (63), Aurangabad (49), Sangli (33), Solapur (66), Jalgaon (46), Dhule (37), Ichalkaranji (43), Nande (32), Jalna (41) and Akola (32).
The Congress Party is leading in Latur (43), Amravati (13), Chandrapur (26), Kolhapur (28) and Bhiwandi (14).
In Malegaon, Congress has emerges as King Maker winning just 03 seats. Here, Malegaon Secular Front has won 40 seats, AIMIM 21, Shiv Sena (Shinde) 18, and BJP 02 seats.
11.50 AM: The BJP candidates are leading in 48 seats of Mumbai Municipal Corporation while its ally Shiv Sena (Shinde) is ahead on 21 of the total 227 seats, as per trends at 11.50 AM.
On the other hand, Shiv Sena (UBT) is leading on 24 seats and its alliane partner MNS is ahead on just 03 seats. The Congress, NCP and other parties have not opened their accounts in Mumbai.
In Pune Municipal Corporation, the BJP is leading on 47 of the total 165 seats. Congress is ahead on 05 seats, NCP on 03 and Shiv Sena (UBT) on 01 seat in Pune, as per the trends at 11.50 AM.
In Nashik Mahanagar Palika elections, BJP and Shiv Sena (Shinde) are together leading on 24 of the total 122 seats. In Mira Bhayandar too, the BJP and Sena (Shinde) are leading in 15 of the total 95 seats.
11.00 AM: The BJP+ and Shiv Sena alliances are in neck and neck battle in Mumbai where counting of votes in underway to elect the new body of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation or BMC.
As per the trends at 10.45 AM, the BJP and allies are ahead on 30 seats whereas the Shiv Sena and its partners are leading in 28 seats in Mumbai.
Overall in Maharashtra, the BJP-led Mahayuti is leading in 370 wards with the BJP candidates ahead in 297 wards whereas Shiv Sena appears to hold 73 wards.
Counting of votes is also underway in Malegaon, Nanded, Dhule, Nashik, Pune and other cities of Maharashtra where polling for corporation election was held Thursday.
10.15 AM: Counting of votes in Mumbai and 28 other Municipal Corporations of Maharashtra has begun amid tight security Friday at 10.00 am.
The results of all the corporations are expected by late afternoon today. However, trends will start coming soon.
09.15 AM: The Maharashtra State Election Commission is set to hold counting of votes in Mumbai and 28 other Municipal Corporations of the state today i.e. Friday January 16, 2026.
The polling in the 29 Municipal Corporations (Mahanagar Palika) of Maharashtra, including the high profile Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation or BMC, was held on Thursday January 15, 2026. As per the State Election Commission data the polling percentage was around 48%. This is higher than the 2017 civic polls in some reports, though final precise figures may vary slightly as official compilation continues.
In Mumbai, the polling percentage was over 50%, Pune saw the voter turnout of around 37% till late afternoon, Kolhapur reported around 51% tutnout till 03:30 pm, Nagpur registered a poll percentage of over 50%, Nashik around 57% and Malegaon about 65%.
The final figure of the polling percentage has not been released yet by the state election commission.
The counting of votes will be held from 10.00 AM today, and all results are likely to be declared by late afternoon.

Most of the exit polls are predicting clear win for the BJP and its allies in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, Mumbai – a major blow to Thackeray family.
The Exit Polls are also predicting victory for the NCP in Pune Pimpri Municipal Corporation. In Nagpur the BJP is predicted to win, in Malegaon the AIMIM is likely to emerge as the single largest party, in Nashik BJP and Shiv Sena are in neck and neck battle whereas in Dhule Congress is in direct contest with the BJP and allies.
Earlier, it was found that over 70 candidates of different political parties were elected unopposed in the 29 Municipal Corporations of Maharashtra after the last date of filing the nomination papers.
