Thiruvananthapuram: IT major Intel is donating 625
Classmate Laptops to six government high schools in five districts
of Kerala as part of the government's IT@School Project.
The Kerala government has associated with Intel to accelerate the
Smart School project, an e-learning programme in these districts.
The programme would be inaugurated by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy
on Tuesday.
IT@School Project has enabled Kerala to become the first state in
the country in implementing ICT enabled education and a role model
to other states.
IT@School Project imparts training to the student and teaching
staff, and each year an estimated two lakh teachers and five
million students are benefitted through ICT enabled education.
K. Anvar Sadath, executive director, IT@School Project, said
mobile computing infrastructure is one of the most effective
e-Learning environments.
"Here teachers and students are provided with laptops dedicated
for their exclusive use for certain periods. Under this programme,
laptops are rotated among various groups of students during the
day and the students in specific batch can carry these devices
home for a specified time line to get more access," said Sadath.
