Auckland:
A 16-year-old student from an Auckland school was stabbed in a
public fight that was organised through the social networking
website Facebook.
A group of students gathered at an
underground car park to watch and video the brawl. The fight was
over a girl and clips of the "fight club" style event was put out
on the internet, the New Zealand Herald reported Sunday.
The teenager was stabbed in the incident by another 16-year-old,
who was later arrested.
The victim was taken to hospital, but sent home shortly
afterwards. Police said they have charged the youth with wounding
with an intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
There have been many instances when fights have been filmed and
posted online.
Last year, a schoolgirl was suspended after she was filmed
attacking another pupil. A 13-year-old boy was filmed being beaten
up by three others at his secondary school.
The principal of the school involved in the latest incident, which
cannot be named for legal reasons, did not respond when asked
whether the alleged offender had been suspended from school.
