CAT computer glitch to be short-lived: IIM director

Now, a management university conducts online tests

New Delhi: The much-awaited results of the Common Admission Test (CAT) were announced Sunday by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs). The scores uploaded on the official website will be the deciding factor for admission to the IIMs and around 100 other management schools.

"IIMs have announced the CAT 2009 scores at www.catiim.in. Candidate short-lists for interviews by each IIM will also be announced on the CAT website as and when the institutes are ready with the list," said a statement issued by the institutes.

The results, scheduled to be out earlier this month, were repeatedly delayed as organisers claimed that compiling these was taking time.

"My result was just okay. Not that good. But, the results came out so late that all the excitement was lost. Now I'm just looking forward to the results of two colleges -- Narsee Monji Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Mumbai, and Mudra Institute of Communication & Advertising, Ahmedabad," says Alisha Horo, a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) aspirant.

Of the eight IIMs, Ahmedabad and Shillong have already put out their lists of shortlisted candidates for interview, while the lists for other institutes were awaited.

The shortlisted students would now be called for interview and group discussion for admission into prestigious management schools.

At least 241,000 MBA aspirants had registered for the first online CAT spread over 11 days in November last year.

However, all students could not appear for the exam due to technical glitches and were accommodated in various test slots until January.
