NIRF 2025 Ranking: Jamia Millia Islamia, Aligarh Muslim University and Jamia Hamdard sled down the NIRF Ranking 2025 released by the Ministry of Education Thursday.
Jamia Millia Islamia had ranked 3rd best, Aligarh Muslim University 8th and Jamia Hamdard 40th in the NIRF 2024 universities ranking.
All the three premium universities have sled down the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) India Ranking 2025 released today.
As per the latest NIRF Ranking, Jamia Millia Islamia is 4th, Aligarh Muslim University is 10th and Jamia Hamdard has been ranked 47th in the Indian universities listing of the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
Jamia Hamdard, however, has retained the best Pharmacy College rankin in the 2025 listing followed by Birla Institute of Technology & Science -Pilani and Panjab University.
Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has retained its 13th position in the overall ranking and AMU listing in the overall ranking is 19th as compared to 16th in the last year's ranking, and that of Jamia Hamdard is 74 against 62nd in 2024.
In the ‘Architecture and Planning’ category, the JMI has been ranked at the 5th position and bagged the 8th position in Law among all participating institutions. The Jamia Millia has been ranked 17th in Dental and 20th among all research institutions. In Engineering, JMI has been ranked at the 24th position and 28th in Management.
The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore has been again adjudged as the best university in the country in the NIRF 2025 national ranking while Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is once again the second best university in India.
IISC Bangalore and JNU were at the 1st and 2nd spots in 2024, 2023 and 2022 too.
Manipal Academy of Higher Education-Manipal is at 3rd place, Jamia Millia at 4th position, University of Delhi 5th, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) 6th, Birla Institute of Technology & Science -Pilani 7th, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham 8th, Jadavpur University 9th and Aligarh Muslim University at 10th positio
Symbiosis International Pune is 24th, Kerala University is 25th, Osmania University is 30th, University of Kashmir is 34th, Mumbai University is 54th and Savitribai Phule Pune University has been ranked 56th in the 2025 NIRF Ranking.
D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth Mumbai is ranked 91th but D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth Pune is ranked 41st.
As per the 2025 ranking, Delhi University's five colleges have secured the top 5 ranks in the list of top colleges in India.
Hindu College is the Best College in 2025 Ranking followed by Miranda House, Hans Raj College, Kirori Mal College and St. Stephens's College at 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th positions.
Others in the list of top 10 colleges in India are Rama Krishna Mission Vivekananda Centenary College (6th), Atma Ram Sanatan Dharm College (7th), St. Xavier`s College (8th), PSGR Krishnammal College for Women (9th) and PSG College of Arts and Science (10th) rank.
Jamal Mohamed College, Tiruchirappalli has been ranked 84th and Fatima College of Madurai, Tamil Nasu is ranked 100th.
Indian Institute of Science (IISc Bengaluru) and 04 IITs have secured the top 5 positions in the 2025 NIRF Overall Ranking.
As per the Ministry of Education, Indian Institute of Technology Madras or IIT Madras is the best Institution consecutively for 10 years in the 2025 NIRF Ranking.
Indian Institute of Science (IISc Bengaluru) is at 2nd position, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay 3rd, IIT Delhi 4th, IIT Kanpur 5th, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur 6th, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee 7th, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi 8th, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) 9th and Banaras Hindu University (BHU) 10th.
IIT Guwahati has secured the 11th rank, IIT Hyderabad 12th, IIT Indore 27th, IIT Patna 36th, IIT Gandhinagar 39th, IIT Ropar 56th, IIT Mandi 58th, IIT Jodhpur 66th and IIT Bhubaneswar 80th.

The NIRF methodology draws from the overall recommendations broad understanding arrived at by a Core Committee set up by MHRD, to identify the broad parameters for ranking various universities and institutions.
The NIRF parameters broadly cover “Teaching, Learning and Resources,” “Research and Professional Practices,” “Graduation Outcomes,” “Outreach and Inclusivity,” and “Perception”.
