Arnoud van Doorn was a member of the far right Dutch political party, Dutch Freedom Party (PVV). PVV is known for its Islamophpbic activities, anti-Islam campaigns including desecration of Holy Quran.
Arnoud van Doorn however later resigned from the party and converted to Islam. In 2012, he also performed Hajj.
Arnoud van Doorn converted to Islam after the Muslims around the world protested against the anti-Islam film Fitna. He said he still regrets for having distributed the controversial film.
Arnoud van Doorn is currently President of the European Da'wah Foundation, and Ambassador of Celebrity Relations for the Canadian Da'wah Association in Europe.
Arnoud van Doorn’s comments about Israel came amid the growing worldwide anger against the Netanyahu-led Zionist regime in Israel for it’s more than five months long brutal military offensive and blockade in Gaza, and refusal to ceasefire during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.
According to the United Nations, close to 1.1 million people are facing starvation and acute shortage of drinking water, food and essentials because of the Israeli blockade. Add to this the massacre of more than 32,000 Palestinians – over 70 per cent of them women and children, since Oct 07, 2023.
Meanwhile, The UN Secretary General António Guterres called on the EU leaders to show the same concern for the civilian population of the Gaza Strip as they show for Ukraine.
Antonio Guterres, who was in Brussels, warned that twin crises in Ukraine and Gaza have put the world in an exceptionally dangerous situation.
"We are meeting at a particularly dark moment when Europe’s role on the global stage is more important than ever", he said speaking alongside European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
Following their meeting with UN Secretary General, European Union leaders Ursula von der Leyen and Charles Michel issued a resolute call for immediate humanitarian action in Gaza and reiterated the EU's support for a two-state solution in the ongoing crisis at a joint press conference.
The European Council had unanimously endorsed measures for full, rapid, safe and unhindered humanitarian access into Gaza, with a specific endorsement of a maritime corridor from Cyprus to bolster assistance efforts, Ursula von der Leyen said.
The EU leaders also called for the unconditional release of hostages and the provision of essential humanitarian aid to alleviate the dire conditions faced by the people of Gaza.
They emphasized the necessity of 500 trucks or equivalent entering Gaza daily via all available routes, including land, air and sea.
In a related development, on Friday, supporters of Palestine protested in front of the Magellan Aerospace Corporation, a Canadian weapons manufacturer that supplies parts for the F-35 jets Israel uses to massacre Palestinians in Gaza, outside the company’s facility in the New York City neighborhood of Corona, Queens.
Meanwhile, Benjamin Netanyahu after meeting the visiting American Diplomat, Antony Blinken, said Israel will not abandon its plans to conduct a military operation in Rafah and is ready to launch it even without US support.
The United States facing strong criticism for its military, financial and diplomatic support for Israel has in public warned Israel against its planned military action in Rafah.
Rafah is now the world’s most densely populated enclave where hundreds of thousands of Palestinians are camping – without drinking water and food, after they deserted their homes in North Gaza believing the Israeli assurance that it is a safe zone.
