‘Simple, Crystal Clear’: Will Smith after reading Holy Quran

Mumbai: Ace Hollywood Star Will Smith said he read Holy Quran in its entirety and cover to cover, and found it simple, crystal clear, very admiring and easy to understand.

He said he was going through some difficult time recently. It was when that he read the holy books of different religions, including Holy Quran.

“I read Quran from cover to cover during the month of Ramadan and loved its simplicity as it is very simple and crystal clear”, the Oscar winning actor said.

'Finished reading without any misunderstanding'

The Hollywood star made these remarks on the Big Time podcast hosted by Egyptian Journalist Amr Adeeb, and noted that he read the Quran “cover to cover.”

“Things in Quran are very clear, and so it is very easy to finish reading without any misunderstanding”, he added.

The Big Time podcast was aired from Saudi Arabia Sunday which coincided with 7th Ramadan 1445 AH. Sharing his admiration about the Kingdom, Smith said that this was his third visit to the country.

Smith also revealed his deep connection to spirituality and contemplation during challenging periods.

“It was a period of my life when I wanted to expand my heart as much as possible so that I could embrace the largest number of people.”

'Beautifully connected'

Smith also said he was amazed to read a lot of references to Prophet Moses in Quran.

“I was amazed to go through plenty of references about the Prophet Moses (may God be pleased with him) in the Holy Qur’an,” he said while noting that this is an interesting matter.

He said the story of Prophet Moses (may God be pleased with him) had an electrifying impact on him.

“I was surprised that everything in Quran seemed like one story... from the Torah to the Bible to the Qur’an,” he said while emphasizing that he did not have any understanding of this seamless series before.

“The connection between these narrations was not broken,” he said while referring to the Abrahamic lineage, and how the Prophet Ibrahim is the father, and from him came his descendants — the Prophets Ismail and Ishaq (peace be upon all prophets).

'Quran relieved me...'

Replying a question about how he raises his children, the American actor said:

“My youngest son is now 23 years old, and yet I am still working on raising them.”

“I thought that raising children would end at the age of 21, but it has just begun. All of my children are in their twenties, except for the eldest, who is 31 years old. Their relationships have become more serious, and therefore they always need advice and help more than ever before.”

“They come to my house on a daily basis, which makes me see them constantly to advise them in need of advice, and therefore I raise them continuously.”

Smith added that reading the Quran relieved him of his worries when they were younger and that it turned him into a person who is a partner in their lives and not responsible for them.

Quran, the Holy Book revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the month of Ramadan talks about different prophets. But, most references are reserved for Prophet Moses - revered by Muslims, Christians and also Jews.
