Supreme Court to pronounce Ayodhya verdict Saturday

Ahead of the verdict, appeals for calm and peace have been issued by Hindus and Muslims both

New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India is set to pronounce the much awaited Ayodhya Verdict Saturday at 10:30 am.

The Supreme Court of India had earlier held a day-to-day hearing for 40 days on a batch of petitions challenging Allahabad High Court's order trifurcating the 2.77 acres of the disputed land at Ayodhya into three equal parts to Ram Lalla, Sunni Waqf Board and Nirmohi Akhara.

There was no clarity on the date of the verdict until now, other than the fact that it would be delivered before Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi retires on November 17.

It has however now become clear that the Ayodhya verdict will be pronounced by the apex court on Saturday at 10:30 am.

Ahead of the verdict, appeals for calm and peace have been issued by Hindus and Muslims both.

Chief Justice of India had earlier also met top Uttar Pradesh officials to review the security situation in the state.

Babri Masjid, the 16th century historic mosque was demolished by Hindu extremists in the presence of top RSS, BJP and other right-wing leaders on December 06, 1992.

The Hindu extremists now want to build a ramp mandir on the site.
