Liverpool Striker Mohamed Salah scored a hat trick playing against Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday. However, more than his hat trick, his generosity is making the headlines.
Mohamed Salah was rightly adjudged the Man of the match after Liverpool defeated Bournemouth 4-0 - thanks to 03 classics by the Egyptian footballer. However, instead of accepting the award Mo Salah called fellow teammate James Milner, who played his 500th Premier League match on Saturday, and handed the award to him.
"No, I will not take it, he's made 500 games," Salah, standing with Milner, said in the after match presentation with Sky Sports.
"I have to congratulate him for his amazing career. He deserves it today and I hope we are going to win something this season together, but I will not take it", Mo Salah, who became the fastest player in Liverpool’s history to score 40 goals, doing so in just 52 games, added.
Salah and Milner were interviewed by Sky Sports after the game, and as Milner tried to hand Salah the award, but the Egyptian handed it back to his team mate.
Salah broke his mini-drought in the Premier League with this hat trick after he was without a goal in his last three matches. But the Egyptian forward put the Liverpool into the lead in the 25th minute of the game and the strike took him to 40 Premier League goals for Liverpool in what was his 52nd appearance for the club. He added another immediately after half-time with a well taken goal. He completed his hat trick in the 77th minute after rounding goalkeeper Begovic and putting it in the back of the net.
With his last goal, Salah completed 42 league goals, standing only one behind Messi during the same time since his Liverpool signing last year. The Argentine netted 43 times for Barcelona in La Liga.
Salah's charity already dispenses financial support to families on a monthly basis back in his home village of Nagrig in Egypt, while funds have also gone to the construction of a religious school and an ambulance station.
Salah was recently hailed by Khabib Nurmagomedov, the world’s top Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) champion, as a “role model”, admiring the Liverpool striker for being humble despite his huge fame.
