Malegan: Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Malegaon Sandip Patil and one of his subordinates caught red handed taking bribe by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) in the morning on Wednesday.
According to initial reports, the ACB officers raided the Malegaon Prant Office following a tip from a resident of Zhodge, and caught SDM Sandip Patil and Nana Bagade, a clerk working in his office, while taking cash worth Rs.2.25 lakhs.
The SDM had demanded bribe to grant Non-Agriculture (NA) status to an agriculture land, initial reports said.
SDM Sandip Patil was earlier in the news for his alleged link with the mining mafia operating in and around Malegaon.
In official circles, he was known for his rough behaviour and rude language.
