Malegaon: Union Minister for Minority Affairs K Rahman Khan is scheduled to inaugurate the National Urdu Book Fair in Malegaon on Friday.
The organisers while speaking to ummid.com said that Rahman Khan will arrive in Malegaon at around 08:30 in the morning and then flag-off an "Urdu Carvan". At 10:30 a.m. he will formally inaugurate the book fair at a gala function.
"The rally titled as "Urdu Carvan", which will officially open the ten-day event staring from Friday, is expected to attract about one lakh people", the coordinator of the event, Imtiyaz Khalil said.
He said that all preparation for the ten-day event is in place. He said they are expecting a huge success of the event – organised first time at a Taluka place.
"We are expecting more than five lakh people from in and around Malegaon in ten days. Various cultural events are also planned simultaneously to attract the crowd", Imtiyaz Khalil said.
He said that a total of 62 publishers from all across the country are already in the city, and they have started setting up their stalls erected by a contractor from Hyderabad.
The even is organised by National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL) under HRD Minister and is supported locally by Malegaon Society of Education and Pasban-e-Adab of Mumbai.
A high-level team of NCPUL led by Khurram Shehzad and Aseem A is camping in the city to coordinate with the local volunteers for the successful and smooth organisation of the event.
