Aligarh: A Muslim organisation here will get an award from a Jodhpur-based NGO for opposing cow slaughter.
The Acharya Hasti Karuna Award carries a cheque of Rs.50,000 and a citation. The award will be given to the Muslim Chamber of Commerce and Industries (MCCI) at Jodhpur later this month.
A MCCI spokesman told IANS that India's cattle, especially cow, population was declining and the country faced a shortage of milk. He said the cow, worshipped by many Hindus, needed to be saved.
