Aligarh: In a meeting called by Muslim businessmen and industrialists at Media Centre Aligarh to discuss the conspiracy to shut down legal meat business in Aligarh by some vested interest and communalized organisations, a separate Muslim Chamber of Commerce & Industries (MCCI) was founded to solve the problems of Muslim businessmen.
The decision to form the MCCI was followed by a suggestion by Jasim Mohmmad, Director, Media Centre Aligarh, to have such an organisation to combat the conspiracies.
In another resolution MCCI demanded from district magistrate Aligarh to take steps for conducting meat business without any threat or hurdle and to take legal actions against those who are threatening meat traders to extract money and political mileage.
It has been decided to constitute Executive committee of the MCCI in next meeting.
Earlier, Prof. Razaullah Khan, Managing Director of Vision Academia Publications Private Limited while chairing the meeting, said, "There is a difference between beef and meat. Religious sentiments are associated with beef and we respect them but we oppose the conspiracy to shut down legal meat business in Aligarh by some vested interest and communalized organisations."
He pointed out that the Udhyog Vyapar Mandal which should have supported meat traders itself became a party in opposing it due to politicization of issue.
Jasim Mohammad pointed out that Aligarh is an important centre of meat trade and it is also exported. If any organization or individual creates hurdles in its way that is illegal.
Mrs. Nikhat Parveen Director of Alisha Publications said that usually Vyapar Mandal ignores Muslim traders and the reason is its politicization.
She said that we pay taxes and do our business legally but our interests are ignored by the government as well as administration.
UP Muslim Halwai (Faridi) Welfare Association Alhaj Abdul Hamid said that not only meat business but there are other traditional businesses which Muslims are engaged in and they have to face considerable hurdles. Due to wrong policies and neglect by the government the handloom industry is dying.
Aligarh Darbar, owner Sohail Ahmad, said that we are neglected despite the fact that we contribute heavily to the foreign exchange reserves of the nation.
