Mumbai: Vice President Hamid Ansari is inaugurating on Saturday a two-day All India Urdu Conference in Bhiwandi, the famous textile city 60 kmtrs from here, which has an overwhelming number of Muslims and Urdu speaking population.
Besides opening the Urdu Conference, Hamid Ansari will also launch a website in Urdu language designed by the students of a local college.
"Vice President Hamid Ansari will be in Bhiwandi tomorrow and will inaugurate the two-day All India Urdu Conference at 03:45 in the afternoon", Chairman of Konkan Muslim Education Society Aslam Fakih said while talking to ummid.com.
The conference is being organised to commemorate 25 years of G.M. Momin Women's College, the institution established by the Konkan Muslim Education Society in 1989.
Others accompanied by the Vice President will be Governor of Maharashtra Shankar Narayan, Chief Minister of Maharashtra Prithviraj Chavan, Minister of Minority Development Department Arif Naseem Khan and MoS Minority Development Department Fauzia Khan.
"The Vice President will also inaugurate a website of our college which is completely in the Urdu language and is designed by our students", Aslam Fakih said.
He said that the focus of the two-day Urdu conference is to show and guide the people how to link the Urdu language with the technology.
He also said that the teachers at G.M. Momin Women's College are also designing software for integrating Urdu language with the technology.
"If countries like China, Japan and Saudi Arabia can link Chinese, Japanese and Arabic languages with the computer, why can't we do the same? We want to demonstrate during the two day conference how the Urdu language can also be directly integrated with the technology", he said.
Besides discussing other topics, the conference will also have a special seminar on "Scope of Urdu Media – Print and Electronic."
The conference will conclude with a Mushaera on Sunday night to be held at G.M. Momin Women's College auditorium.
